The Best Proposal Ever...
We had the wonderful pleasure to work with Matt to design the perfect engagement ring for Felisa, but had no idea how he was going to propose. (The girls here are pretty nosey and all of us are involved in any engagement ring that is created for someone!)
A few days after Matt received the ring, we received the most amazing email, photos, and a movie from the newly engaged Felisa, and both of their blessings to share it with all of our friends. We are so lucky to be able to share this amazing moment with all of you! Here it is beginning with an email...
With much anticipation, and fearfulness, on Wednesday I received an acceptance to a Chicago law school (Right, not where you thought this was headed, which is why it's so wonderful). To celebrate Matt planned the celebration for Saturday, leaving the location a surprise for me. An amazing meal ensued in Trump's Chicago restaurant, Sixteen, that included 10 courses - 3 of which were dessert. Course after course, wine pairing after wine pairing all I was thinking was about how lucky I am to be with someone that was willing to go this extent to celebrate just the acceptance to law school. After deciding to forgo meeting up with friends Matt mentioned he had gotten an independent film, "Question", that he wanted to watch. It's not uncommon for either of us to find a weird/Indy film to watch, so I (maybe a little hazed by the wonderful food and wine I just consumed) didn't catch the hint. When home Matt put on the movie it was only the point where I saw my brother, Jess (the first one holding a sign), that I really realized what was happening. Not wanting to look away from the movie, but unwilling to not look at Matt, I had a hard time capturing everything that was happening. In tears by the end of the movie, after seeing family member after family member holding signs that said, "Say Yes" Matt got down on one knee and asked the question! It was everything that I could have dreamed of for a proposal - private, thoughtful, family inclusive, and full of love.
Through tears, happiness and complete surprise we were engaged on Saturday night, February 21, 2009. Please enjoy the video that I will have watched at least 50 times by the time you are reading this.
We look forward to the memories and celebrations that are to come as we begin the adventure of becoming a family.
